About Us

St  kizito catholic church was one of the outstation of St Theresa  Catholic Church Parish Ifako, before 1998 February. With the completion of Rev Fathers House in St Kizito, His Eminence Anthony. Cardinal Okogie, then the Archbishop of Metropolitan see of Lagos pronounced St Kizito a parish on 13th February 1998. The structure of the new parish at inception, consisted of St Juluis Catholic Church Alagbado. Our Lady Queen of peace, Lambe, St Alphonous, Akute and St John Bosco Alagbole. Although Abeokuta Diocese Ogun State of Nigeria was erected in 24th October 1997, it became effective with Episcopal, consecration of Bishop Alfred Adewale Martins on 24th January 1998. Consequently, all the outstation of St Kizito Catholic Church parish that fell within the Jurisdiction of Abeokuta Diocese were taken over by the New Diocese . The St Kizito Catholic Church lost the four outstation to the Diocese but remain a single church parish, headed by Rev Fr Livinus Ukah supported by one associate parish priests.

Physical Development:

The very small capacity church used by the catechist as partly residential and Hall was demolished to give way for the construction of 14 Station of the cross and Marian crotton.

Arch Bishop Okogie center was constructed to accommodate a combined hall and children church while part of the space was used for temporary church clinic

With Rev. Father in Residence, boys quarter was built to accommodate the church workers and household helpers.

Toilet facility was provided for the church and its premises by the Catholic women organization.

There was shortage of water supplky from Lagos State Water Works hence the need for deep well became apparent. A well was provided with sub-mersible water pump.

Followed by shortage of water, was epileptic power supply by PHCN. The need for a 33KVA Generator could not be over emphased for supply of electricity to the main church , Rev. Frs House, Archbishop Okogie centre and illumiration of the church premises for security reasons.

The wall fence round the premises of the church was raised up.

Ultra Modern Catholic Church: Main Building whose foundation stone was laid on 16th May 1982 needed refurbishing . Works commenced on the general refurbishing of the church in February 1998. The construction of the Alter of Resurrection to face the main street against its precious position was strategic to the change of the original master plan.

Construction of new roof, bell tower, aluminum windows, painting (art-work) of the Saints, construction of the main entrance door and four exit side doors.

The sacristy and the space for perpetual adoration for housing the blessed sacrament were expanded and decorated suitably.
