O LORD BE MY STRENGTH.
From the gospel readings of the past few days all attempt by the Jews to arrest Jesus failed and that did not prevent Jesus from continuing His work.
The Gospel reading of today(Jon.10:31-43) narrates one of such attempt to arrest Jesus. Some salient point we need to know from the gospel periscope are.
These attitudes still exist in our midst today. Ignorant, bias jealousy and wickedness have sown their seeds even in families, among children of God, friends.
THESE EVIL SEEDS HAVE GROWN INTO TREEES BECAUSE THOSE SOWING THESE SEEDS BELIEVE OR PRETEND THEY ARE DOING NOBLE WORK FOR GOD AND HUMANITY.
There is the need to avoid these pharasaic attitude. When Saul was persecuting the Christians he felt he was doing a noble work not until his encounter with Jesus on his way to Damascus. ( Acts. 9: 1-30).
When we do these things it may be a sign that we have not had a personal encounter with Jesus. The personal encounter Saul had with God changed everything about him. It ushered him into true knowledge.
This season of lent should help us to have a personal encounter with Jesus, remove our garment of ignorant, bias, jealousy, wickedness.
On the part of Christ he did not allow the threat to His life to prevent him from doing His. He continued His work.
SOMETIMES WE ALLOW PEOPLES ATTITUDE TOWARDS US TO PREVENT US FROM BEING TRUE CHILD OF GOD.
In the midst of hatred let us call on God as Jeremiah did in the first reading of today.( Jer.20. 10-13)
O Lord guide and protect me from the plans of the evil one and bless me with the gift of final peservearance.
My God, my rock where I take refuge: my shield, my saving strength and my stronghold.
(Ps 18) hear me when I call you.
